JORVIK Viking Centre 

A school visit to JORVIK Viking Centre offers the authentic Viking encounter for your pupils, and a valuable cross-curricular learning experience. Everything at JORVIK is based on fact, from the working craftsmen to the gossiping neighbours, the smells of the cooking to the cesspit - which is in use! This year JORVIK celebrates its 25th birthday and a £1million refurbishment is set to be completed in 2010.



DIG-An Archaeological Adventure

An exciting visitor centre which enables learners to take part in a replicated  excavation, discover real artefacts from past civilizations and also learn how archaeologists recreate the past. DIG is located approximately 5 minutes walk from the JORVIK Viking Centre.A visit to DIG is a superb experience for learners of all ages, offering a venue, which is well resourced, safe and packed with exciting stimulus for them to explore.



Barley Hall

A school visit to Barley Hall gives students the chance to experience life inside a merchant's house at the end of the 15th century. Barley Hall is located approximately 10 minutes walk from both JORVIK and DIG. Combining curriculum-tailored sessions with interactive fun, students gain fascinating insights into the past through the life and times of one of our gallery characters. From Tudor Medicine to Arms and Armour; Barley Hall offers a rich, cross-curricular resource for students of all ages and abilities.
